Group Work

At SARAC, we recognise that support can take many different forms. Alongside our individual counselling and helpline services, we are developing a range of group opportunities designed to support connection, wellbeing, resilience and recovery.

Our groups offer a supportive and welcoming environment where people can explore different aspects of their wellbeing alongside others who may have had similar experiences. Each group has a different focus, but all are delivered with our trauma-informed approach at their heart.

Our creative groups provide an opportunity to explore feelings, identity, strength and resilience through creative expression.

Our Beyond Words creative group is a six-week programme exploring themes including safety, identity, strength and resilience, growth and boundaries. Using a range of creative materials and techniques, participants can create something that represents an aspect of their own healing journey.

There is no expectation to talk about personal experiences or to be “good at art” – the focus is on the process, self-expression and having a safe space to explore.

This group starts in late October 2026 and runs for 6 weeks through to December for current or previous clients of SARAC.

We are also developing psychosexual support groups for women, providing a safe and supportive space to explore aspects of intimacy, relationships, body image, sexuality and the impact that experiences of sexual abuse can have on these areas.

These groups will provide opportunities for information, reflection and shared understanding, with a focus on empowerment, choice and developing a healthier relationship with yourself and your body.

Our upcoming holistic therapy groups will explore different approaches to supporting emotional wellbeing and self-care.

These groups will provide opportunities to try a range of therapeutic and wellbeing-focused activities, supporting relaxation, emotional regulation, self-awareness and resilience. They are designed to offer something a little different from traditional talking therapy, while remaining grounded in our trauma-informed approach.

Our group work is about creating spaces where people can connect, explore and develop new ways of supporting themselves.
